Lower School Summer Reading & Math
Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that this school year is over! What a wonderful year of learning and growth our students have experienced!
As we head off into a summer of fun, we want to ensure that our students avoid the dreaded “Summer Slide” by continuing to practice skills they have achieved this year. We have assigned a novel and math review for each grade level.
Students must read the grade level novel in order to be prepared for the upcoming school year. Click here for some reading prompts to help students read for meaning. Students should be prepared to discuss the novel in class. The first week of school, students will have an assignment directly related to the book read over the summer, such as an essay, a book report and/or an assessment.
In addition to reading, we encourage all our students to complete the attached grade level math review packets.
Wishing our KHDS families a relaxing summer!
Sincerely,
Shireen Butman
General Studies Principal, Grades 1-5
