Lower School Summer Reading & Math
Dear Lower School Parents,
As we approach the summer break, we want to thank you for a wonderful school year and for partnering with us to support your child’s academic growth.
To help maintain the skills your child has worked so hard to develop this year and to prepare them for success in the upcoming grade, we are encouraging all students to participate in two key summer learning activities:
IXL Summer Adventures (Current KHDS students only)
Your child has access to the IXL Summer Adventure program, which provides fun, grade-appropriate activities designed to review and reinforce essential math, language arts skills and more. Students can log in using their regular IXL credentials. Your child’s grade level Summer Adventures on IXL page is below. 2025 Summer Reading
We ask that each student read at least one book from our grade specific Summer Reading List (Click here to see the summer reading lists for incoming grades 1-5). These selections have been thoughtfully chosen by our lower school teachers to align with students’ reading levels and interests while encouraging a love of reading. Students will have opportunities in class to share their thoughts on their chosen book when we return to school in August.
We know that summer is a time for rest, play, and family—these activities are designed to be manageable, enjoyable, and hopefully prevent any summer slide. Thank you for helping us keep learning alive all summer long!
Wishing you a safe and relaxing summer.
Warmly,
Shireen Butman
