KAR2E – Kindness Always, Respect and Responsibility Everywhere
Hillel Day School of Boca Raton has implemented its newest program to promote positive values and behaviors in all aspects of student life. The latest refinement to the existing KAR2E Program (Kindness Always, Respect and Responsibility Everywhere), which instills values of midot through a series of ongoing programs and curriculum, are KAR2E Circles for middle school students, who spend 25 minutes each week participating in small student/teacher groups that offer a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere for the discussion of ethical issues and moral dilemmas. Topics of discussion include social inclusion, chesed/volunteerism, honesty, respect for parents, and peer pressure. Most importantly, these discussions are largely driven by the students themselves.
EMET - Excellent Midot Every Time (EC3-5th grade)
In addition to our already existing EMET notes, which describe daily acts of midot in the classroom each day, we are excited to announce EMET Bands. Those children, who go above and beyond to receive an EMET note, will now also receive an EMET Band bracelet. The EMET Band is another way that children can be recognized for their commitment to Midot.
MIDOT IN MOTION
To reinforce lessons learned in school, we now publish a bi-weekly newsletter entitled “Midot In Motion” that will focus on a particular Midah or value that is being taught in school during that two week period. Topics will include anger management, respecting parents and other authority figures, giving others the benefit of the doubt, empathy, honesty and other important character traits. Each issue will include a Torah study text, thought provoking questions and Torah thoughts and stories that can be shared with your family at the Shabbat table.
